Our trip to Utah

We decided that we needed make some fun family memories while we were in Utah so we went to the Hoogle Zoo. We had never been to a zoo before so was a new experience for all of us. Luckily, the zoo had every animal that the kids thought should be there. Elephants, giraffes, tigers, zebras and monkeys. Brandon was begining to get discouraged that he might not see a kangaroo but we found one, and only one. The darn thing wouldn't hop around though. he was quite content to lay in the sun. but at least it was there. Brandon had been insisting for a week that all zoos had kangaroos and I was so relieved he wasn't disappointed. I'm not even sure why it was such a big deal. he's never even mentioned them before.

Near the elephant exhibt there was a giant wooden elephant that made elephant noises and shot water out of its trunk. When you sat on its trunk like Ashlee is doing, and you were still, it would make snoring noises like it was asleep but when you moved it would go ahh, ahh, ahh, ahh and the blow out the water. of course the ahhs sound elephantish. When you stayed on the trunk and wiggled around it would alternate its spray from left to right.

all three of the kids had tried sitting on the trunk in this picture and nothing had happened. just when they all started moving back in to see why it wasn't working it made a loud sudden noise and then sprayed water. it got ashlee pretty good.

Other than the zoo, we didn't do much else than relax. We spent our evenings eating outside, yes, outside, on the back patio with Mike and Becky Fenton. Something you can't do here in Las Vegas without getting blown away or fried. They had lots of green green grass and big green trees. They even had flowers growing around the house. Can you tell we've been in Vegas too long? You'd think we went to a tropical island the way I'm talking. It was great though, quiet and relaxing. A big thanks to the Fentons for letting us stay with them. we appreciate all they did to take care of us for four days. What would this world be without good friends you can lean on?
